you know how sometimes things just fall into place in a really weird way and something happens that just feels right? logical people would call this coincidence and/or justification but i am happy to believe in fate.
today, fate is telling me that i need more earrings.
i have three holes in each ear. two regular piercings (i got the first when i was six! the second when i was 13?) and then the cartilage on each ear. my mom would probably wince if she were reading that i have put six holes into my body; to that i would say, at least i didn't get a tattoo when all my other friends did?! [after graduating high school, we went to the jersey shore for a week (which seems hysterical now... but where we were was a pretty idyllic place - this was also TEN years ago) and after unsuccessfully asking an off-duty cop to buy us beer, we celebrated our friendship at a tattoo parlor. two tattoos, two nose piercings and a belly button piercing later, i decided i couldn't be left out and bravely surrendered my left ear. those girls are still some of my best buds so i'm cool with it.]
i only wear earrings in my first piercing. a year ago i was still rocking a very, very tiny diamond in one cartilage piercing and i loved the little bit of sparkle. but my hair guy got aggressive while styling and ripped the earring out. so that was that.
but then catbird posted about their new earcuffs. and i loved them but had this feeling that i needed to balance out the bottom lobe to really make it work. then molly posted about getting her ears double pierced and i fell in love with these dana rebecca gems. i was sold. then ITG posted this insane gaia repossi campaign and suddenly i felt like i was already behind!
basically, the universe is telling me something, and i think i'm going to listen.
i may regret it, but i already have the holes, so why not, right?

ReplyDeleteI'm totally feeling the same way. I have two holes in each ear and just purchased a pair of earrings to fill 'em. I'm not much of a statement earring girl (ironic since I love to make a statement everywhere else with my jewelry) so I love to find dainty looking pieces. =)
